REGAL Sulphonators – Built for Tough Conditions

REGAL Sulphonators retain all the trusted features of the popular REGAL Gas Chlorinator, with added durability. Constructed from robust, corrosion-resistant materials, these units are specifically engineered to withstand the harsh effects of sulfur dioxide, ensuring reliable long-term operation in even the most demanding environments.

Safe and Dependable Operation

The REGAL Direct-Mount Vacuum Sulphonator is among the most secure and reliable systems available for eliminating bacteria in water, making it ideal for tasks such as secondary disinfection.

Direct cylinder mounting significantly increases safety. The heavy-duty mounting yoke features the strongest slide bars and tightening bolt on the market. A built-in handle simplifies installation and helps prevent misalignment between the inlet adapter and the cylinder valve. Additionally, a high-performance fluoropolymer coating provides exceptional corrosion protection against gases such as chlorine, sulfur dioxide, and ammonia.

Operating entirely under vacuum, this system ensures sulfur dioxide is never under pressure, virtually eliminating hazards associated with pressure-fed manifold systems. All internal gas contact surfaces are made from cutting-edge, corrosion-resistant materials. With no pressurized lines, fittings, or valves, the risk of mechanical failure is greatly reduced. If any part of the system is compromised, outside air will enter, and the vacuum will collapse. This loss of vacuum automatically triggers the spring-loaded inlet safety valve to shut off the gas supply immediately.

Engineered for Reliability

Simplicity underpins the REGAL Sulphonator’s dependable performance. With only 68 components—up to 60% fewer than those in competing systems—its streamlined design allows for easy use, maintenance, and training.

Each part is carefully selected to resist corrosion and handle gaseous forms of chlorine (Cl₂), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), or ammonia (NH₃). These units are specifically intended for gas use only; contact with liquid versions of these chemicals may harm the system. If liquid exposure occurs, contact the manufacturer without delay.

All REGAL units are hand-assembled by experienced technicians. Each technician is responsible for their unit’s quality, with visual inspections performed throughout assembly and comprehensive testing completed before shipping.

Reliable and Efficient Ejector Design

A key component in both performance and value is the REGAL Ejector, which performs three essential roles:

  • Draws gas from the cylinder by creating a vacuum
  • Mixes the sulfur dioxide (or other gases) with water
  • Prevents water backflow into the gas line

Made from durable, chemically resistant plastics, the ejector is designed to handle up to 200 psig of back-pressure. The single-piece nozzle generates strong vacuum levels with minimal water flow and pressure. This one-piece design guarantees consistent alignment and performance, allowing each unit to be tested against ideal operating standards. A built-in check valve also helps block water from entering the vacuum line when the system shuts off.

Cost-Effective and Long-Lasting

The REGAL Sulphonator is highly economical thanks to its longevity, low maintenance needs, and easy-to-service components. Key features that contribute to its long-term cost efficiency in disinfection applications include:

  • High and Low Pressure Check Valves made from materials resistant to attack by both dry and wet sulfur dioxide
  • Optional Dual Check Valve Ejector (up to 500 PPD), which includes a dual-ball primary check valve with a spring-loaded O-ring/poppet backup
  • Reusable REGAL Filter, crafted from corrosion-resistant materials to trap fine particles and reduce replacement costs
  • Tapered Opening Rate Valve, which eliminates traditional valve seats for more accurate flow settings and reduced wear
  • Special Alloy Inlet Adapter, highly resistant to corrosion from various forms of sulfur dioxide under normal use
  • Extra-Durable Diaphragm, constructed from reinforced material for steady gas flow during operation
  • Corrosion-Resistant Inlet Safety Valve Spring, housed in an easy-to-service capsule and backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty
