About Chris Nancrede, EIT, ASSE 12080
Chris Nancrede, EIT, ASSE 12080, is the founder and president of Legionella Control Systems, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in secondary disinfection strategies to control waterborne pathogens such as Legionella, nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), and Pseudomonas. A mechanical engineer with more than 15 years of experience in pathogen control, Chris has extensive expertise in the design, implementation, and optimization of both chemical and non-chemical secondary disinfection systems. His background in industrial water treatment and purification supports a comprehensive approach to long-term remediation and risk reduction. He also holds a patent for a high-efficiency water softener that helps limit conditions favorable to Legionella growth.
Chris established Legionella Control Systems as an independent consulting company, free from proprietary products or vendor-driven solutions. This independence allows for objective evaluation and selection of secondary disinfection technologies tailored to each facility’s water system, operational needs, and risk profile. Services include engineering site assessments, secondary disinfection system selection and validation, water management program development, performance testing, and ongoing control strategies.
Throughout his career, Chris has partnered with a wide range of clients, including Fortune 500 companies such as Anheuser-Busch, Chrysler, Ford, PepsiCo, Eli Lilly, and Roche; healthcare systems including VA Hospitals, Northwestern Medicine, and IU Health; and long-term care facilities such as Little Sisters of the Poor. His depth of knowledge in secondary disinfection and waterborne pathogen control has made him a trusted authority and a highly sought-after consultant.
